Irene Schaefer
About the Artist
Irene dove into her art practice later in life and is primarily self taught. Her work is always inspired by nature and explores movement, colour, and quiet energy in her subject matter.
Working with acrylic paint, she builds layers of colour, texture and gesture to create compositions.
Her paintings evolve intuitively, usually beginning with an image or idea, but without a fixed destination. Through the process of adding, removing, layering, she allows the work to develop organically.
Artist Statement
My work is inspired by nature, colour, movement, and texture. Through an intuitive process, I allow each painting to evolve organically and reveal its own unique character.
